CTO/VP of Engineering Dinner

What a great night…

Last Thursday Storm Ventures hosted a get-together with some of the CTO’s and VP’s of Engineering from our portfolio companies. Our invite list included folks from AtScale, Avanoo, Engagio, GuideSpark, LitBit, LogicHub, Logickull, Marketo, MobileIron, Rafter, Rallyteam, Scripted, Splashtop, and YesPath.

This dinner represents one of the many initiatives currently in the works here at Storm Ventures. The goal of these initiatives is simple; to bring together our community of enterprise SaaS Executives. We are hoping that by bringing together the members of our community, we can help our portfolio companies develop new ideas and leverage our network when they need any kind of support. The idea is that our Storm Ventures network belongs to every company in our portfolio.

We talk a lot about bringing value to our portfolio beyond money, and these sorts of informal dinners and get togethers represent some of the ways we differentiate ourselves as a venture firm. What always surprises us at these sorts of events is the richness of the conversations that occur.

If you had been a fly on the wall during the event you would have heard conversations about:

  • Effectively building, managing, and growing remote teams in Indonesia
  • The challenges of managing massive amounts of data
  • The reliability of cloud computing services such as AWS
  • Challenges around scaling infrastructures

Beyond talking “shop”, this was also an opportunity for individuals to relax and realize that they aren’t in this alone. So often the path of entrepreneurship and working as an executive in a fast growing company can seem like a lonely one, dinners like this help make it clear that this isn’t the case.

By the end of the night, everyone walked away with a full stomach, new friends, and an understanding of what it means to be part of the Storm Community.
